Modico Collection Sizes available: 2×2, 2×4, 2×8, 3×3, 3×6 4×6, 4×8, 6×8, 8×8, 12×12, 2” hex and 4-3/8” hex. Additional sizes and trim pieces are available such as bullnose, sanitary cove, liners, chair rail, v-cap, inside and outside corners, etc. Contact us for all options and to discuss your needs.

In a recent conversation with a laNeva Dealer, we discussed all different aspects of our production, environmental practices, future designs and how we might fit for a future project they were presenting. ‘

In the middle of that call, I was also asked if the tile that laNeva produces is LEED certified.

After the discussion, I got off the phone and did some research. I hadn’t thought that LEED certifies products, but couldn’t be sure. Manufacturers can have all sorts of ‘environmental’ certifications from various organizations, many of which cost buco-bucks and are akin to Organic Certification for a local CSA. The CSA might follow all the same organic practices, but it doesn’t make economical sense for a small operation to pay for such an expensive certification…. but I digress.

As stated direct from the USGBC.org website:

Q: Can I get my product or service LEED certified?

A: USGBC does not certify, endorse or promote products, services or companies, nor do we track, list or report data related to products and their environmental qualities.

LEED is a certification system that deals with the environmental performance of buildings based on overall characteristics of the project. We do not award credits based on the use of particular products but rather upon meeting the performance standards set forth in our rating systems. It is up to project teams to determine which products are most appropriate for credit achievement and program requirements.

So, in an itty-bitty nutshell, that answer is no. laNeva Tile is not a LEED Certified product, nor is any other tile or any other building product. It is the entire construction project that could qualify for LEED Certification, to which the materials are only a small component.

To learn the basics of LEED, particularly LEED For Homes, watch this great overview video:

LEED for Homes: Certification Process from U.S. Green Building Council on Vimeo.

If you’re interested in learning more about laNeva’s environmental practices, see the Environmental Statement on our site, email or just call us.

While not all of our products are high on the recycled-content spectrum, we have others that are 100% recycled content. Plus, we’re adding new products and refining our techniques all the time.

Your home/office/restaurant might just be nearby a production site for a specific laNeva Tile collection! And, a huge advantage to using tile is the long-term durability, simple maintenance and overall low life-cycle cost.

This helps to support our fabulous network of people who work so hard to display and sell our products.

Please contact us to see if there is currently a laNeva dealer in your area. If there is not, please tell your local tile showroom that you would like to purchase from us. We’ll process their new dealer account quickly and you can place your order through your local resource, with whom you have a relationship.

We’re happy to send you tile samples and specifier chip boxes (available for online order shortly) and will then refer you to your local tile dealer for orders.

Thank you for all your support in making laNeva Artisan Tile a growing, thriving tile boutique!

We’ve been working up a storm lately! Testing new products, developing new Rift color combinations, collaborating with several artists and working to set up new dealers. Whew!

So, without further ado, we announce:

laNeva is now offering 6″x6″ tile in Solid and Rift Colors!

Showcasing our newest display board with this new 6×6 size tile is Filmore Clark in West Hollywood, CA. These new, larger handmade tiles are a perfect compliment to our 3×6 subway tile (or for anyone sick of small-scale tile) these beauties are a fabulous way to make a statement – BIG!!

laNeva’s newest “IT”colors!

You’ve probably seen the post already, but wanted to remind you.

laNeva asked for your help to select 3 out of a possible 6 glaze color options for our limited edition “IT” colors. We had a fun poll with a ton of “voter turnout” and announced our three limited edition colors colors a few weeks ago.

#11 Laguna, #19 Smoke and #10 Tangerine are already getting rave reviews and we are having so much fun pairing them with our existing solid colors for some fab new handmade Rift color combos! Stay tuned for more!

laNeva’s Super Secret Collaboration:

Yes, we’ve got something up our sleeve that will have it’s big reveal in the coming months.

Can’t say much now, except it is really different and we’re very excited to be paired with such a talented artist. This is not just a one-time deal, but an new laNeva collection to be available through laNeva Tile dealers, Spacial Adaptation Product Agency and our website.

(I feel super sneaky with a tease like that as I am one of those people who cannot wait for surprises, but there is much more information to follow in the coming weeks. Trust me, it’s worth the wait!)

Until then: Support local shops and artisans. Add color to your life. Celebrate Spring. Happy Wednesday!!

I really need to send a big shout out to two MN companies that I admire and want to tell the world about: Metamorphosis and their Tuesday Green feature of Amazon Environmentals recycled paints.

Metamorphosis is a multi-faceted company that focuses on Realty as well as Design/Build, leasing and Property Management. They are environmentally conscious, locally connected and have an entertaining and informative blog (which is the goal of all of us, right?)

The latest blog post from Metamorphosis is featuring Amazon Environmentals, Inc and their incredible recycled paints. Amazon uses discarded paints that are brought to local Household hazardous waste centers for disposal. This is an exciting product that produces 12 colors made from recycled latex paints. I am giddy. What a cool concept.

Check out these two very forward thinking MN companies. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more from both in the future.

Last week we announced our newest collection of field tile patterns called SPAN (to go along with our Lineal & Slice Collections of Borders) and showed you SPAN patterns using laNeva’s rectangular tiles. Some fun layouts were included with our favorite being the 3 pattern options using our 1×6 liner. Fab-u-lous!

As promised, we are following up with the squares. It’s hip to be square (had to throw that in there!) and we see a huge resurgence in the market for square tiles. So without further delay, we bring to you:

SPAN Collection – Squares

All pattern drawings show one square foot of each layout. For those of you super-savy readers (of which you ALL are!) note that the patterns on the left and right of each tile size are the same with the left shown as a horizontal running bond and the right, vertical.

And a laNeva insider- update for people who read to the end of each post:

Within the coming week, you’ll see a few changes to the laNeva site, with our new collections (including this one) added to the “Our Tiles” tab. Have questions? Check out the FAQ’s or contact us for more details. We love to hear from laNeva Tile fans!

XOXOXO,

You never know when inspiration will strike. Today, while checking our Twitter account, I saw an intriguing tweet from HAUS Interior:

I clicked the link and found an extraordinary Zig Zag throw, in graphic Navy and White.

We loved it instantly- for its simple yet timeless pattern, its bold lines and striking contrast of color.

Just as instantly, my mind flashed to our Lineal Collection border pattern, Herringbone Classico. Here we have a simple herringbone pattern, which is really just a zig zag layout… and our border could easily be specified as an alternating zig zag instead of how we’ve shown it previously, as two colors of tile randomly placed.

Since we produce each tile and assemble each order by hand, we can make it the way you like. If you prefer dynamic movement in your patterns, this is perfect in both classic colors or as a blast of brights for a mod interior. Any of our handmade Solid Colors can be combined to create a unique border design. Do you want delicate or wide stripes? Yes, you can choose that, too.

Here are four zig zag options that are available using our Herringbone Classico pattern. Choose 2, 3 or 4 colors for this stunning new pattern option – Herringbone Zig Zag.

laNeva Herringbone Zig Zag

For a retro look, we recommend solid colors #95 Lichen, #73 Butter and #24 Steel.

For a more classic zig zag, try #68 Twilight, #31 Snow and #71 Dune.

Check out our other newly released Lineal Collection patterns on our blog: Woven Rift, Rift Valley, Bamboo Forest, Composition Six and Marching Orders. How will you customize the patterns to make your own unique design?

As you may have guessed, I have a love of art, old buildings and specific design elements- such as tile and stained glass. My love of old buildings is a family interest and most likely a catalyst for my profession in Interior design. It all stems from a summer road trip with my family into Wisconsin to explore all of the Frank Lloyd Wright structures we could find…. but I digress.

Frank Lloyd Wright, the infamous Architect, designer and creative genius is a favorite of mine. I admire his work not just for the ingenuity and unique thinking for the era, but for the personality needed to take such leaps. Frank Lloyd Wright saw space and materials in ways that today are still being perfected. His structures tested the limits of what was ( and is) possible and these inventive designs are showing more than their share of stress and wear from the years.

The Unity Temple in Oak Park, Illinois is one of those structures.

With a flat roof, signature Wrightean cantilevers and a large open interior, the structure is cracked and crumbling and the exterior a new target for vandals. The National Trust for Historic Preservation named Unity Temple one of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places in 2009. There is a foundation established, the Unity Temple Restoration Foundation, that has an excellent website providing information on the restoration, fundraising and steps that have been made since the 2009 listing as an endangered site. Please donate to their efforts if you can. Historic architectural sites such as the Unity Temple are worth saving.
